Yes, after a long, long hiatus I wrote a couple new short stories. They're homemade; I hope you like them.
First, following their "marriage" in San Angelo, Lee and Amanda investigate a threat against the President of the United States. This ficlet falls under Lee and Amanda's Road Trip series, but can stand on its own. A Bump in the Road Second, Dotty's thoughts while waiting for news on Amanda's condition following her being shot while on vacation in California. Dreaming of Dragons Those waiting for another Scarecrow and Mrs. King Season 5 screenplay. I finished outlining a new one yesterday. Stay tuned. . . Be sure to check out a new Scarecrow and Mrs. King website by tjsmklvr. Actually, it's an updated version of her previous webpage Call Me A Cab. Lots of SMK interviews, fan fiction, music videos, memorabilia, and tons of photos and articles on both Kate Jackson and Bruce Boxleitner. Includes promo photos from The Rookies and Charlie's Angles, too. I know Taya spent many, many, many hours putting this site together. Drop her a line and let her what you think.
Lee: Do you think you can break into Zorbel's place? Amanda: No. Lee: Well? Amanda: Call me a cab. Lee: You're a cab. Life has been very, very, very crazy lately, but I have been writing. Here are links to my most recent stories and a SMK Season Five Project screenplay. A huge shout-out to my fantastic beta readers. I couldn't do it without you. And before anyone asks; yes, I am writing episode 10. (I am a little more then half-way through).
Heart of Gold (Episode 9) Smooth Sailing (Season 3: Lee and Amanda) Ghosts from the Past (Season 3: Lee) There are times when I just feel it is time for me to stop writing fan fiction and concentrate on more original works. Not saying there is anything wrong with fan fiction, but have felt a little "Burn Out". Then, out of the blue, a story idea sparks and screams to be written. This is actually a combination of a couple ideas colliding. First, in early February, my youngest sister had a birthday, and I had wrote "Happy Birthday" on her Facebook wall and she had the gall to write back, "Is that it?" Well, I took it as a challenge and whipped out a short Scarecrow and Mrs. King story for her. However, I thought the story could be expanded, so I also ran with an earlier challenge story of Lee and Amanda on a road trip in a limousine. This is the final product and I feel now complete.
Timing is Everything I also have to note in the episode "Do You Take This Spy?" Lee and Amanda were married in Marion, Virginia, but looking at a map, I realized Marion was five hours from D.C. Darn, continuity of the SMK writers! Therefore, I followed canon and had them married in Marion, but expanded the story to explain what airport I believe they flew out of, whatever happened to the limo Amanda drove to the courthouse, and how much time had passed before they headed to California for their honeymoon. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of these events. Finally, a special shout-out to my beta readers! I am happy to see tjsmklvr is back to writing fan fiction again. Actually, a few of the original SMK fan fiction writers have been popping back up and entertaining us with their stories of danger, excitement, intrigue.
The latest story from tjsmklvr is This War of Mine set during season three of Scarecrow and Mrs. King. A little AU, but a wonderfully crafted tale with lots of action, suspense, and romance. Warning regarding violence and a couple swear words, but still a must read. Stories like this remind me why I fell in love with Lee and Amanda to begin with. Have no fear. . . I have not abandoned my SMK Season Five Project. Real life and a missing muse have put me behind. Nonetheless, I did finally write and post an new episode earlier this week. For those who are new to my blog, I started a fictional fifth season of Scarecrow and Mrs. King. This is what I think a season five would have looked like if we (the audience) had another season. This in no way lessens the virtual seasons of SMK and stands on its own. I wrote it in screenplay format, because I thought it would be a challenge and wanted them to read more like an episode.
Here are the synopsis and links to the first nine episodes of the SMK Season Five Project. 5.1. Secrets, Lies, and Half-Truths Lee and Amanda go undercover to stop an assassination attempt. Meanwhile, Francine is determined to find out Lee and Amanda's secret. 5.2. The Ties That Bind Also Gag Dotty accidentally gets mixed-up in a case involving Lee. Later, Amanda searches for Lee whom she learns is being held captive. Does she find him in time? 5.3. The Choices We Made - Part One As the Agency deals with pre-election year housekeeping duties, Lee and Amanda are sent to investigate a case of vaccination tampering. Meanwhile, Billy is seriously injured in a traffic accident and Lee steps in as temporary section chief. When his decision leads to the death of a fellow agent, Lee must deal with the ramifications. 5.4. All secrets are revealed. 5.5. A Drop in the Bucket Lee and Amanda travel to Seattle, Washington to investigate missing satellite surveillance photos, but they aren't the only ones who have an interest in them. 5.6. A Long Winter's Night It's Christmas Eve and has Lee and Amanda finally broken their Christmas curse of being trapped in a nest of killers and thieves. Don't bet on it? 5.9 Heart of Gold Lee and Amanda must protect a teen Russian gymnastic star who is in the States as part of a Goodwill tour. Trouble ensues when there is an attempt on his life. Just the other day, a writing buddy of mine told me, "You must have been a cheerleader in a previous life." I chuckled. "Hey, it's me!" No seriously, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with so many talented writers and I am ecstatic to spread the good word about their work. MeriSalope has not posted her newest SMk story yet, so I can't link; however, Resourceful has started posting her revised edition of a story she wrote back in 2006. A fantastic tale involving Lee and Amanda going under cover as a married couple at a revival to stop religious zealous terrorists.
Great Awakenings In addition, Lia London's newest novel, a young adult, science fiction trilogy went live last week on Amazon. The Gypsy Pearl 2: Craggy is the second installment following Caz as she continues to cycle the "Gypsy Pearl" and take her place as rightful Queen of the gypsies. The Gypsy Pearl 2 is what The Empire Strikes Back is to Star Wars, a little darker, not the happy ending, but I know it will lead to something epic, imaginative, and wonderful. I look forward to the third and final book. The Gypsy Pearl 2: Craggy Always happy to beta read or do line edits. Just contact me. UPDATE: Here is the link to MeriSalope (aka Soapie) Autumn challenge entry for "Scarecrow and Mrs. King Fan Fiction Rocks" Facebook page. Almost Normal Over the years, certain fan fiction sites have become defunct, including one of my personal favorites: Bromfield Hall.
To locate this and other defunct sites, go to Internet Archive Wayback Machine's home page. In the search box, next to where it says "Browse History," type in www.bromfieldhall.co.uk/archive1.htm and click browse. Then click the box over the year 2007. That shows dates the site was saved, then click on the blue dot date on the calendar, and that should take you to the Bromfieldhall Hall site. Temporarily this link should take you to the site directly, but not sure how long it will be active. Bromfield Hall Here also is a temporary link for Toto's and Swoope's stories. Thanks for the heads up NancyH from the SMK Forum Page. Update: I know understand the link for Blue Boxers and Beyond is also no longer active. Click on the title for a temporary link. Again, do not know how long this link will be good. I suggest copying and pasting favorite stories to a word document and saving. Sad to be losing such good quality fiction. Tipping Point is a new SMK fan fiction story by Resourceful. She is posting in chapters and her story consists of a total of 15 chapters. It is a very suspenseful and well crafted story, set in today's time period and deals with the real dangers of internet and social media and the controversial technique of hydraulic "fracking". I am grateful to be working with such talented and gifted writer being one of her beta readers. If you have a chance to read, please take a moment to leave a review.
A new "Little Lee" story, Unexpected Beginnings.
Summary: Lee faces up to his punishment when he gets in trouble at school. A nod to Cheryl (Soapie) for the story idea and to Beth for proofing and the great title suggestion. I already wrote a blog entry on my favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories, but thought I would list my top ten personal favorite SMK fan fiction authors. I apologize to those who are not on the list, since there are several I love, but could not include everyone. (Please forgive me TS, mrsvanderhosen, Merel, KissHerJack, LorelaiSquared, Toto, Robin and anyone else I may have forgotten). The list is in alphabetical order. Click on the author's screen name to link to their stories on Fanfiction.net. Stories can also be found on IFF Film Library, Wicky Archive, and Blue Boxers and Beyond. These sites can be found under the SMK link section on the menu bar.
Honorable Mentions: Of course, can not forget the queen of the tag extensions: Took me long enough, but I finally finished another of my season five project scripts. Guilt by Association can be read by clinking on the link.
In addition, I wrote Our Little Secret, a short fan fiction story for Séverine, who wanted a late third season Lee and Amanda story. Happy Reading!! I am half-way through the SMK Season Five Screenwriting project. Script number six, I will be posting next week (once I get it back from the betas). Nevertheless, I would love some feedback on where the rest of the season should go - kind of like interactive fiction. What would YOU have liked to have seen if there had been a season five of Scarecrow and Mrs. King? Any comments, suggestions, feedback on the first six scripts? Don't be shy, I am open to ideas. This is your season too.
Also, I will be posting a new SMK fan fiction story soon. A short, little one-shot, set season one, between "There Goes the Neighborhood" and "If Thoughts Could Kill." I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and write early Lee and Amanda. Sadly, this story was supposed to be submitted to the SMK 30th Anniversary zine, but because of an illness, I missed the deadline. Lastly, I am always open to story suggestions. Anyone have a request? People often ask me for fan fiction recommendations, so I thought it would be fun to share a list of my personal favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories; therefore, I present "The Aluminum Sun Awards." Note: These are my own personal choices and categories. I tend to enjoy a well written, character driven drama a little more than fluff - but no worries, I included plenty of fluff. Would love to receive some feedback - I know not everyone has the same taste as I do, and would like to hear what your choices would be. (I hope someday to do this for Chuck, but have barely scratched the surface of Chuck (Charah) stories out there – although, I do love the story Amilyn wrote for me – Neighborly Intervention - it is utter Jellie joy). A drum roll please - and without further ado, my favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories. . . |
